Praise Yourself

Jul 09, 2010 in Goals No Comments »

Can you believe it’s July!? I’ve always felt for years that July was the new January. To me July means setting new goals and starting new projects. I am doing a happy dance for those of you who have reached some of your goals and completed projects. A project doesn’t necessarily have to be a project for profit, but rather it can be a project to improve a certain area in your life, or it can just be a project for pure joy.

Take a moment right now and praise yourself for taking actions steps towards your goals and projects.

If you didn’t take actions steps towards some of your goals, take a moment right now and FORGIVE yourself for any negative thoughts you might have for not taking action. Replace the negative thoughts with patience. Have patience because you WILL complete your projects it’s only a matter of time.

Focus on one project and work on that project without pushing yourself into misery mode to complete it; meaning, work on the project because you enjoy it and enjoy the time you’re spending on it. If at any time when you’re working toward your goal and it becomes unpleasant, stop working on it. Figure out if there is a more enjoyable way to work toward your goal (e.g., finding more enjoyable exercises to lose weight, hiring someone to help you with your project, or just working on your goal a few minutes or hours a day without the pressure).

For years I used to live by the mantra of “I have to do this NOW.” My mind would constantly become cluttered so much so that sitting in my bedroom closet crying had become almost a daily ritual. I am delighted to say that crying in the bedroom closet is a distance past. If you can relate to my story, know there is hope for you as an internal clutter bug (ADHD); or as I like to call it, a gift from God. Know that you are perfect the way God created you. Let things happen naturally, joyfully, and calmly when you are working towards your goals. I’m excited for you!

Blessings and love,
Lisa
